Cheryl Son, MA, LCPC, CRC
My name is Cheryl Son, and I am a licensed therapist with several years’ experience, working in a range of environments and with a variety of client issues. After earning my Master’s Degree in Clinical Adult Psychology from Southern Illinois University Edwardsville, I worked in a residential home for teenagers with behavioral disorders and traumas. This position came with a lot of development and learning how to manage varying roles within the one position. While working at a state agency for several years, I assisted individuals with disabilities assess their options, providing resources to retrain and obtain successful employment. After relocating, I took on an opportunity to work in a hospital setting, serving the geriatric population in an outpatient group and individual therapy program. During COVID, I had the opportunity to pursue teletherapy and provide a much needed service during a tough time for many people. I continue to provide this service in my own teletherapy practice.
Working in each of these environments and with these groups of clients has been developmental to my eclectic approach to therapy and assisting clients with their varying life experiences!
